Hot drinks are served in paper cups and I’m sure this place could be made better if it offered a table service. The cakes looked quite nice and it seemed fairly busy. Staff weren’t overly friendly and tables could have done with a quick wipe but the lady serving said they did a meal deal for 5.00 which included crisps and a drink so compared to some of the other places in the area serving food this was quite inexpensive.
Burnt dry bacon in my roll. Seemed like it had been on the hot plate for hours. Place was dead. Staff leaves a lot to be desired. Do they really want to be there?!! I think not. No smile just a grunt. Change put in my hand without a thank you, nothing. Do yourself a favour people, save you're money for something nice. Butchers at top of the street do hot rolls, coffee, pies that are amazing.
Great little family business, very welcoming on arrival with lots of choice of sandwiches and savouries, competitively priced too
There was a great range of fabulous looking cakes, however upon eating two out of the three were inedible. I had a custard slice which should have been puff pastry. There certainly was no puff. The pastry was under baked and not nice in the mouth. The custard appeared to be thick birds custard and not the classic French pastry cream. We both had a chocolate dipped flapjack which gave me indigestion as it seemed to be made from cheap margarine and cooking chocolate. My husband took one bite and threw his in the bin. On first glance everything looks lovely, but sadly the ingredients and taste let it down. I wish I could say something nice as I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but this one left me feeling cheated.
I love a traditional bakery and Trotters in Seahouses is one such place. Lots of gorgeous baked goods. As I had travelled from Leeds for a holiday I decided I just had to go home with some treats. The diamond slices were lovely and kept well for a week (it took me some time to eat everything I bought . Although the millionaire brownie was very expensive at £3.80 (ish for a piece, it was delicious lovely biscuit base, caramel, brownie and chocolate. What's not to like! It's just a shame there isn't one nearer Leeds (but maybe that would be bad for my waistline . Staff were friendly and the lady who served me was very patient as I took some time deciding what to buy although, in the end, I did buy quite a lot. :
