The fresh apples, donuts (we prefer plain over cinnamon sugar), cider (regular, hot or slushees) are all worth it. There's a market inside the main barn with all things apple related for sale. There are also stand alone huts for seasoned nuts and homemade fudge You can watch cider being made through a side door in the barn. Outdoor seating is limited near the cider area but more plentiful near the winery barn. Yes that's right! There is a barn just a short walk up the hill that sells hard cider, beer and wine! Now, I know you want to go!
Love that this is local and not too far. The grounds are fairly small but enough to walk around and dogs are allowed outside so we appreciated that. We got the apple cider, apple butter and cider donuts. The prices were reasonable and no admission so that's nice. The cider was delicious! Loved it. The donuts... super underwhelming. Prob my least fav in MI so far. Not warm/fresh and they used like a powdered sugar vs cinnamon sugar so wouldn't get those again but would like to come to the winery some time!
10-18-2023 We had a super fun visit. The cider slush was a revelation!! And the cider itself was tart, sweet, fresh and the perfect October treat. The servers were all friendly and our dog joined us for an outdoor, multi-sensorial experience of fall colors, autumn temps and cute families enjoying their donuts. Only problem were the bees, but what can you do about that?
I've never been to a cider mill before so I must have romanticized the experience. I always thought there was more to the outing based on a ton of social posts so when a friend suggested an outing after brunch, I was game. It was a beautiful Sunday, both crisp and sunny. So it was unsurprising that Parmenter's was packed. There were cars as far as the eye could see and huge lines. We decided to skip it but I vowed to return on a weekday. One Fall day, I had taken the day off and decided to go to Parmenter's again. It was gray and rainy, the exact opposite of my previous visit, so I reasoned that there would be fewer people. When I arrived, there were still more cars than expected but the line was not too bad. I honestly thought there would be more activities like apple-picking or tractor-riding, more of an experience like at a sugar shack. Essentially, the experience is a store in a barn structure where fresh doughnuts and cider are sold. Other merchandise like apparel, bags of apples, apple pie, apple butter, honeys and (what looked like) jams, and cider slushies are also available. But the majority of customers picked up cider and doughnuts. The cinnamon-sugar doughnuts were tender and smelled of oil. In the car, when I took my first bite, the doughnut was a touch warmer than room temperature. The cider was sweet and cold. Note that the cinnamon sugar-coated cider doughnuts really don't keep so my advice is to only purchase enough for the day. The line moved slowly but that was more due to undecided customers than the process.
Great cider mill in Plymouth. I have been going here since I was a kid. A piece of Plymouth history.
