We are so glad we chose this as our first dinner for the honeymoon. It was beautiful, romantic and the food was spectacular. I can truly say after dining at some of the best restaurants in Carmel, Monterey, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, this was BY FAR our best dining experience. From the food to the ambiance. Everything was exquisite. I want to say a special thank you to Rene and chef. You guys made our East Coast experience a core memory for a lifetime. Thank you. We will never forget it. Six stars wouldn't be enough. Simply outstanding. Each item was both a work-of-art and delicious. In the order of experiencing them. Friendly, attentive but not over-dominating service as some 5-star/Michelin star places have. A great, varied wine list at fair price-points for where you are and the type of restaurant. If I had to complain about something (to prove this is genuine), it's that I live 1,000 miles away and can't come here monthly. But otherwise, a great evening.
I had the 7 course menu and my partner had the 3 course. In general the food was not served hot enough. 7 course: tuna was tasteless and bland. Burrata was tasteless .Scallops were overcooked and rubbery, but accompaniments were good. Halibut was highlight of dinner- served hot and the curry sauce was innovative and tasty. Wagyu was a big disappointment- chewy and fatty. The creme brûlée was very good. 3 course: mushroom bisque served cold. Wagyu as above. Server was pleasant but a bit too chatty. Did not inquire at all as to our satisfaction with the courses. Water glasses needed more attention. Assistants who brought food out hard to understand. Overall a big disappointment for the hype and 's.
We had a wonderful dining experience. Rennie and staff took amazing care of us. Views of Pleasant Bay were stunning. Great tasting menu and excellent wine list. Highly recommend. Ask for Rennie.
The view is magnificent, the staff exceptional, but the food....Blah beyond belief. The meal was ridiculously overpriced and under-spiced $500 for two of us with two drinks and two 3-course ...appetizer, main and dessert..meals). The menu is limited to a very few items that are so overly complicated that every dish comes off as all show and no substance. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to the elements being jammed together in any of the offerings. It was very confusing and odd. There was no flavor, no excitement. Not even salt!? The only interesting things we ate the entire meal were found in the small palette cleansers after each course...they honestly were the best part of the entire experience. If you don't mind spending $500 or more for a lovely view of Pleasant Bay, then go forewarned. However, know that you can get the same view at the property's Beach Grill for a whole lot less money and enjoy better, less pretentious food. With salt.
