Popped into the cafe first thing to grab my partner a coffee before we set off for the park. Service was so incredibly slow, only one customer in front of me, and took about 10 minutes for my order to be taken. Partner actually popped in twice to check I was okay. Then went in again later for lunch. Again the service was incredibly slow. Actually had to say something and ended up pulling a chair up to the line as I couldn’t bare to stand any longer had been almost 20 minutes with two customers in front me. The food however, was lovely but quite expensive. The place itself was very clean, and beautifully decorated. Would maybe pop back in again if caught out but wouldn’t make a trip out to it.
At times, the restaurant's dishes are excellent while other times they are quite disappointing. I once saw a huge jacket potato being brought out of the kitchen, which made me eager to order one myself. However, when my order arrived, it turned out to be the smallest jacket potato I've ever seen. Additionally, the noise level in the restaurant was unbearable.
Visited the Waterloo park pavilion today with my sister. I ordered the bacon and chicken salad which I had had before at the prison cafe and I had enjoyed it. However, this one was vile. The leaves clearly hadn’t been washed so you could taste all the chemicals, there was no dressing, the tomato was tasteless and past it’s best, the bacon was fatty and undercooked and the chicken was dryer that a nun’s snatch with no flavour whatsoever. I suspect everything had been bought on a tight budget, there was no evidence of any value for money. Paid £7.95 for an appalling meal that I didn’t and couldn’t finish in the end. Won’t be ordering any food from there again.
Located in a beautiful pavilion building, Park Britannia is a charming park cafe situated in the center of Waterloo Park (which is a fantastic park, by the way). It is frequented by dog walkers, mothers, and anyone who enjoys park living. The interior design is lovely, the cafe is bright and spacious, and the menu is delicious. The prices are also very reasonable. We particularly enjoyed the Afternoon Tea, but we have gone back numerous times for cooked lunches and hearty breakfasts. Give it a try! You won't be disappointed. We highly recommend it.
Visited the Park Britannia for the first time as visit Cafe Britannia on numerous occasions, very beautiful location, beautifully decorated and spacious, I found the staff friendly and pleasant. The weather wasn't scorching but great to see plenty of people around, be warned it will get busy at certain times patients is the key., Also bare in mind unlike cafe Britannia they open till 4pm. I found a good choice of food on the menu and very honest in the descriptions. We had the vegatarian ploughman's and the pork pie ploughman's, pickle had a lovely kick to it and the homemade pickle onions awesome kick lovely. Afterwards we had a fruit scone and definitely got the taste of homemade. We were not disappointed and put it on the same par as the Cafe Britannia. Thank you all for a lovely lunch look forward to returning again.
