A very nice place for the summer days. besides the good quality good and th selection of drinks, as well as threw wonderful and quiet location near the train station in Nottingham there are a couple of dings that you have to see to detail. the entrance, despite a little narrow, it actually provides security of small thieves for the customers. there are many sheltered and shaded seating outside and there is even a small parking space at the hof. there are also enough protection off the coast. a unique feature is that the water of the canal enters the house and you have to cross an indoor bridge to get to the bar. it is a stunning function. the whole atmosphere is wonderful and I enjoyed every minute I spent there, the location that eat, the architecture to the features and the creativity of the designers.
Canalhouse has a nice atmosphere for evening drinks or during the day. Outside they have lot of tables if you want to relax in the sun and watch the canal go by. The inside is interesting and cool as you go over a little bridge or walk round the water (50 steps extra maybe??? . The beer selection is wide, lots on the tap and fair amount of unusual drinks if you feeling adventurous. When it hits 9pm the audience does disappear so if you want a quiet and fancy area to drink, this be your cup of tea. That was Saturday so cant speak for other days. Only reason why it a 4 star, the kitchen wasn't available for the public on the day and i was hoping to have food at the place...
The location of this place is perfect. Also, as a pub it is very unique. However, the experience there was quite disappointing. I ordered a medium cooked Rump Steak and it wasn't even well done, it was congratulations. It was like a brick, I couldn't even chew it. Moreover, the scampi was tasteless.
I just jumped in here for a quick pint after work, so I can't comment on eating. the canalhouse had a fantastic selection of beer, to choose too many. I was very tempted by one of the stouts offered that were 11.5%, but at that time it was too early to try that! the barstaff was friendly and also knew the beer. I was really surprised to see that they still have canal boats in the building, which was really impressive.
