If the rating was based solely on the food, it would be a zero. I'm not sure if it is better for lunch, but the Saturday night we were there, only six people were dining for the entire night with three waitresses. The chef left after cooking our meal. Two of us ordered the roast lamb with a medley of vegetables, potatoes, and sage and parsley sauce. The lamb seemed to be cooked two weeks ago and was inedible. The potatoes were raw, as were the carrots, and the sauce was extremely peppery. The two orders of steak were okay, but they came with pre-packaged coleslaw, lettuce, and a grilled tomato, which was disappointing. All the food was served on old wooden boards that looked past their expiration date. Normally, I would refrain from saying anything if I had nothing positive to say, but a $32 roast lamb and a $41 steak were both a blatant rip-off. I would not recommend wasting your money at this place.
I had beef cheeks, pork belly, and a glass of shiraz in front of a cozy fire on a cold day. The staff was friendly and attentive when we walked in and sat down. They even asked if we needed salt and pepper, but we didn't because the chef had seasoned the dishes perfectly. Desserts were good but not exceptional, however, the wine was outstanding. Overall, great value for the two of us and a pleasant discovery on a dreary weather day.
Pleasant atmosphere,The Sirloin Steak was very tender and tasty with an excellent bottle of red.I also had the mushroom ragoot entre which I enjoyed. All 6 of us had an enjoyable experience.
Well, it was a very cold day and the fire just wasn't warming the room enough. Also, having visited the tasting room many times we expected a dining room with great ambience and character. Wrong on both counts. We also thought, upon reading the newsletter that the steaks were top notch, as you would expect in a steak house. How hard can that be? Wrong again. Over cooked on one side, medium on the other porterhouse and scotch fillet the only choices. Not good. We now have that out of our system and will try another of the many restaurants the Barossa has to offer on our next visit.
A return visit on a cold and windy day. A must for any traveller driving through the Barossa Valley. The staff very friendly. Firstly we were bought out sourdough bread with olives and a very tasty oil. Roast lamb on a spit was ordered & it was delicious as was the gravy.Do yourself a favour and go there.
