I am super bummed this place had to close its doors because it is becoming all the more difficult for the mom and pop businesses to compete with the corporate greedy conglomerates like Starbucks and the likes! Well, for whatever it's worth; Apollo's was a gem of a coffee shop here in the Agoura Hills/Oak Park/Westlake Village area. They served Groundwork Coffee which is a Los Angeles based roaster that produces incredible coffee unlike the bitter, burnt **** that Starbucks is known for. It's been great, Apollo's. I wish you all the best on your next venture.
The end of an era. Beanscrne, when owned and operated by Jim and Kathy, was a great community coffee shop with a warm and welcoming environment. This last owner was a nasty NASTY person who was angry, standoffish and hostile toward her customers. I hope that this last NASTY owner never opens another customer service business. This horrible woman should only work in a cubicle where she does not have to interact with others!
The coffee is of the best in town! Groundwork, organic, of course. I 'm a regular. I 've been coming 4-6 times a month since it opened. Best Açaí bowl in town, too, and I 'm all business about my açaí bowls. But the radio is a crime. It 's always golden oldies and plays totally rando music. I 'm a music snob, sorry not sorry. There isn 't a genre I don 't love. But I don 't mix my chocolate with broccoli. This morning it started off with Rick James Super Freak, then Beach Boys T-Bird, then Cyndi Lauper Heaven is a Place on Earth (80s glitter Pop). The last song I love but the mix couldn 't be weirder if squirrels were DJing putting CCR Fortunate Son (classic rock) after glitter pop, then Run around Sue, then Michael Jackson Bad ??? People here 's the thing. Rick James goes with 80s dance and funk, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Earth Wind and Fire not Beach Boys, not 60s bouncy pop, and not Classic Rock.
Best experience at a coffee shop I've had in a long time. Staff was very friendly and coffee was exceptional. I always prefer mom and pop opposed to the chains and this one offered the special touch that made my day. The place was extremely clean with the owners on sight. I was in town for one week and visited the shop a couple times each day. Highly recommend!!!
