The meat has a great Smokey flavor. I gravitate toward the pork and ribs. Things a don't love: I've tried the brisket and found it dry. The corn muffins are always pretty dry as well. Note: this place is just take out. They have a table outside but that is it.
4 stars for being clean. Honestly, the place is 3 stars. The beer place next door is unfortunately a little more memorable. I give them a 4 because they are very nice and obviously care very much about what they do, but I have to say this is not the best barbeque in Pittsburgh by far. This place is more of a smokey barbeque joint. The last time I got their food I decided I didn 't really think it was worth pursuing a second order. Their ribs weren 't cooked enough (too bouncy and chewy) and their barbeque sauce was forgettable. Those ribs should be sitting on the flame until they are tear able .. and these weren 't. I challenge them to improve their overall experience with the meat. I know they work hard on it, but it 's too clinical .. it needs to have more soul. Sides were nothing to write home about. They delivered on it being barbeque no question about that but was it amazing ? No. Will check back with them. You know the secret to a great barbeque sauce is to hand make it .... with anchovies, or apple butter, or something secret. I feel like this place just made a barbeque sauce . Sometimes that makes all the difference. Brisket was just not amazing either. Kinda tough. Not fall apart like you 'd want. Not a melt in your mouth experience. You oughta find a way to differentiate. Make a good Jewish recipe. Few offer that in this part of the world.
The croutons are amazing and the big guy with the beard is such a hunk.
This is a fantastic BBQ. The fragrance of smoke drew me there, and I couldn't resist a brisket sandwich and several sides. The meat was so tender it was falling apart, and the juices and tangy sauce make for a mouth watering experience. I would be at a loss to choose only two of the sides. I love the heat of the jalapeno corn muffins. The coleslaw is a healthy dish with oriental undertones. City corn is a great twist to your ordinary sweet corn off the cob. I love baked beans, and the best baked beans are as good cold as they are hot. The cowboy beans hit the spot. The collard greens are the best I have ever had. Burk's BBQ is worth a long drive to Oakmont!
Had their special smoked brisket chili and it rocked my world. they really did it for me, and it was delicious. keep your grilling gear! I'm back in a definitiw.
