Although they can be a bit slow due to their popularity, the food is definitely worth the wait. The fish and fries were tasty, and you could tell that they change their deep frying oil regularly. The food had a bright, fresh color and did not leave any strange texture in your mouth like when shortening is used.
There was a recent negative review about Sammy's, and I'm uncertain if they visited the same Chip Wagon. The first time I went to Sammy's Chip Wagon was probably around 10 years ago (or whenever he first opened . I have had many poutines in my day, but Sammy's still holds the crown for the best I've ever had. It's all about the proper gravy, fresh real cheese, and correctly cooked fries. Sammy's delivers. My experience with the store owner himself has always been great. It's the same person who served me for the first time those 10 years ago, and still does a fantastic job today. When it's a slower day we normally strike up a chat and learn a little bit more about each other. On busier days he's focused on preparing all of the orders for waiting customers (as he should be , and getting orders out the door. (I really dislike the recent negative comment saying he needs to put a smile on his face.... . Sammy has always been very nice, friendly to order with, and tries to get your food to you as soon as possible (even when it's super busy . Sometimes he has so many customers that he runs out of supplies towards the end of the day, but that's just because his Chip Wagon is so popular! I drove by one day during COVID-19 and noticed that his Chip Wagon had finally opened for the summer (safely, later in the season . We were excited and walked down for a late dinner. We were lucky enough to get the last piece of fish and chips, but there were many other people who arrived after us that were very disappointed that he didn't have any left. I certainly didn't expect that many people to stop by on his first day open, but it just goes to show how popular and loved Sammy's Chip Wagon is. Prices are all reasonable, and match what you'd expect for the area. Portions are served filling the container they come in (and then some . Service is always wonderful, even if it's just a quick noting of your order, and jumping back to getting your food ready for you as quickly as he can on a busy day. Thanks Sammy!
Sammy's Fish and Chips in Bronte is a RIP OFF. He runs out of fries and still charges $13 for one piece of fish. Also, for take out customers, he gives burnt fries and smaller fish pieces because he knows it is packaged and customer will have it away from the stall. He has no smile on his face either. Real disappointment. Stay away from this place. It is a RIP OFF!! I would give all negative ratings if they were on the chart.
We've been eating at Sammy's for many years and have never been disappointed with the service and quality of food. Fish chips are excellent always hot tasty. The owner is super friendly and always remembers us : We will continue to visit Sammy's we love the food!
The food, service, atmosphere, everything was perfect. My favourite place for fish and chips. This place is like 35 years old. The taste is just like the British premium quality. Everything is fresh.
