Erzgebirgsstube - Oberwiesenthal

After a bad eating - cannot say ‘dining’ because it was anything but experience in my hotel, I sought a restaurant where I felt I could have a good meal in a comfortable environment, and Trip Advisor led me to the Erzgebirgestube in...Best Western Ahorn Hotel Oberwiesenthal. I have to admit that I was drawn here by the reports on Trip Advisor and the photos of the “stube”. It looked like the kind of place I expected in Oberwiesenthal and the Erzgebirge. During the day I looked for and found the Erzgebirgestube, and it met my visual expectations from the photos on Trip Advisor. I returned in the evening, and must admit to being somewhat put off by finding the restaurant totally empty!! While the Best Western Ahorn Hotel seems like a fairly large hotel, this restaurant did not have any diners, and empty restaurants tend to usually be signs of a bad restaurant. I persisted, and let me report that the Erzgebirgestube is not a bad restaurant. Being the lone diner, at least the first one, I had my selection of table, and it afforded me the opportunity to take some photos unhindered by staff or other patrons. This also allowed me to linger over my glass of sekt and book without any qualms of upsetting the flow of service to myself or other patrons. Over time, two couples arrived, and they were followed by two business men, so through the course of my dinner, the restaurant remained quite empty. For those who follow my TA reports, you know that I have a penchant for game dishes when I am in Europe, so this evening I selected the Venison Roast in burgander sauce with wrapped balls and pear red cabbage, but not before I opted for the Kűrbissuppe (pumpkin soup) as an appetizer, and as you can see from the photo, it was also loaded with pumpkin seeds. The Venison Roast was a marvelous presentation with loads of burgander sauce covering the ample portions of venison, and I must admit that the wrapped balls – like rolled dumplings – were new to me, but still delicious. The red cabbage is a ‘must have’ for venison, and this, while a little on the small side, was a great complement to the venison and rolled dumplings. Despite being in a very decorative and relatively empty “stube”, I was very pleased with the service, the presentation of the food, and more importantly the flavor of the food. And, needless to say, this was a huge, really huge, improvement over what I had to eat the previous night in my hotel. If I were to ever to return to Oberwiesenthal, I would definitely consider staying at the Best Western Ahorn Hotel Oberwiesenthal because of the Erzgebirgestube

I must admit that I was drawn here through the reports about trip advisor and the photos of the “stube”. it looked like the place I expected in oberwiesenthal and the mountain range. during the day I searched and found the erzgebirgestube, and it fulfilled my visual expectations of the photos on trip advisor. I returned in the evening and must admit to being away by finding the restaurant completely empty! while the best western maple hotel seems like a fairly large hotel, this restaurant has no diners, and empty restaurants are in the regular signs of a bad restaurant. I am gone and I report that the Erzgebirgestube is not a bad restaurant. as a lonely diner, at least the first, I had my choice of table, and there was the opportunity to make some photos unhindered by employees or other mices. this also allowed me to linger and book over my glass sect, without the need to annoy the flow of the service for me or other. in the course of time came two couples, and they were followed by two businessmen, so by the course of my dinner the restaurant remained quite empty. for those who follow my TA reports, they know that I have a penchant for game dishes when I am in Europe, so tonight I have selected the venison roast in burgander sauce with wrapped eggs and pear red cabbage, but not before I decided to take the kűrbissuppe (pumpkinsuppe) as an appetizer, and how they can see them from the photo, it was also cut. the venison was a wonderful presentation with loads of burgander sauce, which covers the plentiful portions of venison, and I must admit that the wound balls – like rolled dumplings – were new to me, but still delicious. the red cabbage is a “must have” for venison, and this, while a little on the small side, was a great addition to the venison and rolling dumple. Although I was in a very decorative and relatiw empty “room”, I was very satisfied with the service, the presentation of food, and above all the taste of food. and, without saying, that was a huge, really great improvement, what I had to eat in the last night in my hotel. If I ever wanted to return to oberwiesenthal, I would definitely say for the stay at the best western ahorn hotel oberwiesenthal because of the Erzgebirgestube.

Kann man weiter empfehlen, wir haben nichts zu beanstanden. Essen gut, Service freundlich, so macht der Kurzurlaub Spaß.

Das Essen (kommt aus der Küche des Ahorn-Hotels Birkenhof" war sehr gut. Die Kellner aufmerksam und sehr freundlich.Leider lässt die Einrichtung im Erzgebirgsstil in der Erzgebirgsstube keine Gemütlichkeit aufkommen

Wir waren Hotegäste und aßen in dem Restaurant zu Abend. Zu empfehlen ist das Fürstenbräu von Hasseröder. Die Speisenauswahl ist gut und unsere Gerichte waren sehr schmackhaft. Ich hatte die Maishähnchenbrust und meine Frau überbackene Auberginen (vegetarisch). Die Portionen sind ausreichend und die Preis mit 14,50 € für das Hähnchen und etwas weniger für das vegetarische Gericht fair. Der Kellner war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Alles in allem eine angenehme´und gemütliche Atmosphäre. Lediglich ein regionales Bier hätte ich mir gewünscht.
