After finishing the front 9, we went to the clubhouse to ask for some water or a drink. The attendant told us that the clubhouse was closed and nothing was available, but he did offer us 2 Gatorades. When we tried to pay, he said the register was closed and he couldn't accept payment, so he gave us the Gatorades for free. I'm not sure if this is how Ocean Pines wants to do business, as I thought the point of business was to make money. This was not our first time playing here.
In the Autumn of 2016, a reviewer somehow rated this course a 1-star. Either he shot a 140 or their review was clearly disingenuous. It is impossible that the course I played yesterday could've been a true 1-star experience. Playing mainly in the Williamsburg, VA area, my reference courses are very highly rated. From that perspective I submit the following review of Ocean Pines: Course Layout: A+ RTJ clearly earned his high ratings as one of America's top course
During my recent visit, I found the course to be challenging with numerous bunkers. However, I was disappointed with the condition of the greens. The staff was friendly and provided excellent service. I would consider playing here again if the greens were improved.
I?m a part time resident of Ocean Pines so I like to support the golf course when I?m in town so I played 9 holes the other night. The new clubhouse is nice but the golf shop is tiny and doesn?t have much in it. The course itself is in absolutely terrible condition. They used to brag that they had the best greens on the shore but they are the worst greens I have played on maybe ever. I won?t be back anytime soon.
New clubhouse is very nice! Wait staff very friendly. Golf Course design stands the test of time and is still a demanding test of golf.
