Palaeet - Odense

Rather small, stylish restaurant, nice for romantic dinner in two,business meeting or group dinner. Food absolutely perfect, chef knows his job and is nt afraid to experiment and combine different ingredients, resulting to hogh quality delicious food. Very nice wine selection. Top professional service.

I thought we were in for more of a traditionsl style meal, but it turned out to be a very interesting and surprising experience, which I can oly recommend others.

As I read the mostly positive reviews, we decided to go there for dinner. When we entered, we were delighted by the cosy atmosphere and interior. But then, it got weird. We are not fluent in Danish, so we spoke English, which wasn't a problem in Denmark until now. The waiter came to our table, looked at us, turned away and disappeared for a few minutes. Then he returned and took our order. We ordered a bottle of wine, which he just put on the table, without a comment. He did not let us taste it, or poured it to us. He never looked at us, when he poured the single courses and it was more like he trough it on the table than really serving it. It was really rude, especially as he did small talk with all the other guests and we felt really uncomfortable. To comment on the food: it was okay. The entree was good, especially the soup, but the main course was a disaster. The vegetables were either dry or not cooked at all and the meat was dry and there was no sauce at all, even though it was beef bourguignon, which usually has a great gravy. We left after the main course and decided to enjoy drinks somewhere else, as we really felt unwanted and uncomfortable and we didn't want to take our chances with the dessert. So I cannot recommend Palaeet. It was the worst dining experience I had in Denmark and will not go there again!

We've just visited Palæet,Odense, where we had deal with butter bread for 3 hours. I think there were 10 different kinds of herring, the fish filet, the usual meat eggs,frikadeller and old cheese in French bread. The friendly staff came all the time with a new walled and warm, as it was a pleasure. Nice room with a nice size and parking right to the door. Great prices for drinks. Wonderful excursion.Can warmly recommended.
