Gondüző - Odorheiu Secuiesc

Center location, excellent food and service. especially great for a peaceful meal, as the restaurant tends not to be too loud. their large selection of dressings are fresh and prepared from the best local ingredients before site. we often come with family and...Friends here highly recommended!

We stayed at the Hotel Gonduzo for 7 days and had dinner at the hotel 5 of those days. We could (and probably should have) tried other restaurants in town but the food was simply so good and inexpensive. We are a family of 4...and had dinner for less than $25 total (main and dessert). The menu has many traditional Hungarian favorites as well as some Romanian and 'western ' dishes. Be sure to try the local dishes which they do very well like Hungarian stuffed cabbage (one of the best I 've had). The service was also great, very friendly and prompt without being intrusive. I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you are staying in Odorheiu.

I was lucky enough to have a longer stay in Odorheiu Secuiesc (Székelyudvarhely). All of the time I stayed in this hotel. It is perfectly situated in the town. The staff is unbelievably sweet and kind. The owners were there daily and interact with the...guests. The sleeping arrangements are humble but cozy depending on the room you get. The baths/showers are great. Let me save a special* paragraph for the restaurant..... I have traveled a substantial amount in Europe, Central/South America/US and this continues to be one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. Even their chicken breast with rizi bizi (rice/peas/carrots) is memorable and delicious. The ingredients are just top of the line. Given my long term stay, I was able to try nearly the whole menu/daily specials and there was not one* thing on the menu that I didn't like. In fact, I still dream about the food and the time I spent there. I was also not expecting how much I would like Romanian and Hungarian beer.... turns out I DO... Big time. Don't miss out. Do yourself the favor and make a stop here while you are in Romania.
