Dairy Queen Grill Chill - Okawville

Too bad zero stars isn't an option!!! Don't waste your time stopping here!!! They have a sign on the highway but when you get there the dinning room is Closed!!! So if you are tired and hungry and need a break. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME STOPPING HERE!!!!

Some of the other reviews of this place almost stopped us from stopping here. I'm glad we went against that. Usually we don't. The staff was very friendly, our order was as we asked, the food is hot and tastes very good and fresh. Thanks guys!!!

I recently had lunch at this restaurant on September 5, 2022, and it was my first time visiting. I ordered a pretzel and a double burger, and I must say, my husband was absolutely thrilled with the burger. It came with two patties, lettuce, tomato, onions, and two different types of cheese. I'm not sure who prepared it, but they did an excellent job! We will definitely return.

We chose to use the drive-thru for our order and enjoy our meal at the benches outside. As we approached, a staff member came out to inform us that they couldn’t take our order because we weren’t allowed to stand around in the parking lot. We requested that the lobby be opened, which he did, albeit reluctantly and with noticeable attitude. I assured them we had an hour to eat, even though only three employees were on duty. They did manage to get our food to us promptly, but the girl at the counter informed us that eating in the lobby wasn’t permitted, forcing us to go outside in the heat. I also noticed I was shorted five dollars in change and had to bring that to the staff's attention. At one point, when another employee was asked for cups, he retrieved them but did so with an unwelcoming demeanor. Despite these issues, they served us and a few cars that came through the drive-thru in about 40 minutes, which was commendable, and the food itself was good. However, it was clear that the staff wasn't particularly motivated. We were also told that there weren’t enough employees to handle cleaning, even though the sign outside indicated the lobby was open during our visit. Overall, it seemed like there was poor management at this location.

I can't verify any of the responses, but as a professional driver, my dining options are limited due to the lack of parking for large trucks. So, when I spotted a Dairy Queen next to a truck stop, I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I was let down to find that the lobby was closed and only the drive-thru was available, which isn't helpful for drivers like me. It feels like a missed opportunity for business. I think any restaurant near a truck stop should keep their lobby open; it seems like poor management to me. The foot traffic from the truck stop would surely be much greater than what you'd get from the drive-thru at this location. That's just my perspective. Instead, I decided to go with Subway tonight, and they always come through for me.
