My lunch companion has very special dietary needs, and the restaurant the server in particular was attentive and accommodating across the board. The menu is inventive, the food as fresh and flavorful as anyone could want. The prices are completely fair. The experience at Iguana is one that I fully expect to experience again, so that I can try different items from the creative menu!
Disclaimer! This review is from 2 years ago. It has actually taken this longer for me to be able to process what actually happened to us at Iguana! Unsure if management is the same but I’m sure hoping not. Everyone rating this place so highly has me questioning whether we ate at the same restaurant! Previous to our last visit, my husband would eat her at least twice a month. We loved their queso and atmosphere but the tacos aren’t so great and the service is always hit or miss BIG HIT or MISS. Most recent trip was shocking!! I will just give a summation of our experience. Server took FOREVER to welcome us take drink order. No acknowledgement or apology for their lack of attentiveness. Took even longer for her to come back with our ice water and tea. Not to mention the chips and queso we ordered yes, you pay for queso here. I was finally irritated enough when she didn’t come back with the queso that i got up and politely asked another server to find ours. She came out (she looked super frazzled as though she was upset at us that she was having to work and I gently (I made a conscious effort to be very kind here asked that she have another server help us. She left and came back with “the manager” saying WE need to LEAVE because WE made her server cry! After I paid for our drinks and queso (yes, I paid for our stuff!! , we obliged and left IMMEDIATELY. We were horrified first that a “manager” would speak to us the way she did and blatantly lied about the course of events! My husband I eat out quite a bit and most restaurants frequent know us by name and appreciate us and our tips. Why we continued to give this restaurant chance after chance only to be treated so ridiculously poor, is beyond me! So this wasn’t much of a “summary” after all but this place popped up in my search for Mex food near brick town and I just couldn’t keep this to myself any longer! Service is a dying art especially post covid. Everything has grown in price and the quality and quantity have been sacrificed. But! Wonderful restaurants with amazing food and superior service DO EXIST! We will seek those places out and reward them generously. I’ll be surprised if Iguana still exists (under its current management in the next few years. What a shame!
This isn't Tex Max where dishes are drowned in chili sauce. It is fresh and healthier and the atmosphere is great! Bartenders always can mix up a great flight of margaritas or ranch water! They have the best tacos of any kind! Great staff, not a bad seat in the house and the bathrooms are clean!
The food here isn't very good. We ordered the chimichurri steak, queso, and 2 tacos (pork verde, and chimichurri steak). The flavor wasn't great and the meat was a little dry. The guac on our queso had browned so we didn't eat any of it. We also sat next to a very noisy table.
I really wanted to like this place but the food was so bland. Maybe the kitchen was having a rough day, the chips and salsa were solid but I had a chicken burrito, black beans, and red rice and it had really no flavor, even with the amount of ingredients it all just kind of didn’t have the seasoning to back it up. My boyfriend had the enchiladas and his was bland also, he had chicken and pork. I just really wished it had more depth of flavor.
