I ordered a slice of white pizza, but they only offer quarter trays now, which isn’t what the menu indicates. The pizza has become thicker and doughier than I remember. It now tastes like canned tomatoes with occasional bits of onion on a heavy crust topped with mozzarella. The service, which used to be charming, has declined, and unfortunately, bad service paired with mediocre pizza just doesn't cut it anymore.
They don't answer the phone because they are extremely busy. I'd like to respond to a comment made by a customer who mentioned that the crowd is old and the atmosphere isn't fun. Clearly, this individual is part of the team that took over Revellos Pizza in Old Forge, which used to be a popular spot, despite its dull ambiance and older clientele. Now, although it has been revamped and modernized, it often sits empty. Why is that? Because people come for the pizza, not for the music or decor. I predict that Revellos Café will be out of business within five years, while Ghigiarelli’s, the spot for the older crowd, will be serving quality Old Forge pizza for the next hundred years!
The white pizza features a double crust, which might not be ideal if you aren't a crust lover—if that's the case, you might want to check out a spot across the street. For crust enthusiasts, however, this is a must-visit. The crust is infused with rosemary and onions, giving it a delectable flavor. And the cheese? It spills out from both sides with each bite, tempting fate as you indulge in its richness. Truly mouthwatering! While the red pizza is also tasty, it doesn’t quite hold up to the white. The sauce is enhanced with onions, adding a delightful twist to its flavor, and the crust is perfectly crispy. I recommend starting with a half tray to gauge whether it meets your expectations for red pizza. The wait staff is a mix of seasoned veterans who handle both serving and kitchen duties, so they’re efficient and attentive without being intrusive. Just be respectful of their time. Overall, the restaurant exudes a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. The decor isn’t anything extravagant, but that’s not what matters here—people come for good food and to spend time with friends and family.
It is with regret that I write this review but feel it must be done for fellow customers. Have been a fan of this pizza for over 30 years almost exclusively doing take-out, ignoring what I was sure were sanitation issues there. (but hey, the pizza is sooo.... good) But that has come to an end after finding a huge black bug on the bottom of one the slices the last time we ordered take-out. Just cannot get past the actual proof of my suspicions. It was pretty disgusting. Good bye delicious pizza!
One of the oddest places I've ever seen. Pizza was alright, but so depressing in here. Drunk elderly crowd, that's fun. Canned cheap beer didn't dull my senses enough to ever return. Avoid if you like enjoying yourself in any way. Ugh.
