A relatively limited main menu from which I selected the Monkfish Wellington which to my disappointment was unavailable! Chose the rather expensive £32) Rib Eye steak as an alternative which, whilst served medium rare as requested, was perhaps not of a standard I expected. The Fish and chips my wife chose was fine. Overall, the meal was a gift from our daughter for a 60th Birthday. On reflection, whilst our first impressions were positive I have to say we left a little disappointed with what we consider to be a limited menu, rather meagre portion size of the steak dish and the average at best quality of the steak itself.
Attended fir a wedding the staff are outstanding they could not be more helpful . The beds are very comfortable I would prefer a shower cap in the rooms as I never remember mine .
We visited the restaurant here a few weeks ago with friends to celebrate some good news. We all had the 2 course menu for about £30, which had plenty of options and everything sounded good. Portions were a good size, fish was absolutely divine and Yorkshire puddings were huge! Like others on here, I found the grilled pineapple and coconut dessert a little underwhelming, but the rest of my party enjoyed their desserts, particularly the sticky toffee pudding which was a very sizeable amount. Staff were very accommodating and pleasant. The location is also lovely and there are plenty of seating/tables out the back for good weather. Minor gripe about the price of the kids menu, it wasn’t worth that much considering the price of adult meals.
We just came for food, not use of the inn. This was a really good experience. My Nan had just come out of hospital, so we took her for a posh Sunday dinner. They were so accommodating for her, it was very appreciated! The food was a little rich for her, but it was very nice! Was a little disappointed in the fried pineapple, it was a very small piece, and I was expecting some sort of seasoning. But it was hot pineapple with a side of coconut ice cream. Ah well! Live and learn : Also, the Nut Roast could use a little work. I did think it was overall very pricey for what it actually was £30 for two courses , but we knew that going in, and I can't fault the service at all. Lovely staff, attentive but not over bearing! Recommend this place for special occasions, but due to the price being a bit much for what you get, I wouldn't recommend for just a standard Sunday Dinner.
We went for Sunday lunch yesterday and the food was absolutely excellent. Genuinely one of the best roasts I’ve ever had, which is unusual because they’re usually done really badly everywhere. The beef was tender and perfectly cooked, great roasties, excellent gravy, good solid carrot and leek, very good stuffing ball… Faultless really. And the sticky toffee pudding was also a 10/10. Service was friendly. Will definitely be back.
