This is a traditional, medium-sized hotel tucked away in a quiet residential suburb. It has river frontage. The nearest amenities of any sort are a good 15 minute walk away. Two of us stayed one night travelling back from a holiday in SW France. We had booked because of the Michelin recommendation and were looking forward to a good meal. But we had forgotten it was Sunday and, of course, the restaurant was closed. There was an afternoon wedding reception on when we arrived and we got the impression that visiting guests (albeit with reservations) were the last thing the hotel wanted. We were directed to a “nearby” place for supper. That turned out to be a long slog on foot (see first paragraph). When we arrived back from supper, we had to let ourselves in at the main door with a code supplied at check-in. The place was deserted with no staff being apparent. No chance of a drink and the access to the outside seating on the river terrace was blocked off. Our room was fine, but nothing to rave about. We didn’t have breakfast. The cost of a double room for one night was 95:00 Euros.
The ambiance and service were really good and this is a nice restaurant to go to if you want to do something special. They have tasty fresh baked bread and the dishes look amazing. However, that simultaneously is the issue, they look fantastic but disappoint in taste. The cod carpaccio seemed to be coming from the freezer and was watery. The pasta with salmon was good but could have used some more flavoring and the bun that was supporting the desert was going soft and was fairly tasteless. You can have a three course menu for 39 eur which is a very reasonable price, but if you order a la carte the food seems to be overpriced (42 eur for a very small sized portion of steak). Nice to try but would pick a different restaurant next time
