It’s not about the quirky menu items like squid or gourmet cheese; it’s simply outstanding bar food. The fries are crispy, the burgers are big, juicy, and delicious. However, the staff leaves much to be desired. We visited the bar several times when the grill was closed, and there was never a hint of a friendly response—no frowns or raised eyebrows when we asked if food was available. The only reply we received was, “Do they know what they want?” Oh, and yes, they do serve alcohol as well.
This place is huge! There was a big party going on in the parking lot. The owner, Big Mann Tommy Leif, is fantastic! The food is delicious and the business is thriving.
The menu is simple but effective, featuring burgers, fries, onion rings, wings, tenders, and a Philly cheesesteak—nothing too fancy. They also had a decent selection of beers and liquors. To be honest, I didn’t have high expectations; I was bracing myself for frozen patties and stale snacks, especially at that hour. But I was completely wrong. What I received was a delicious, handmade burger with a generous patty, fresh onion rings, perfectly seasoned, and crispy fries. It was surprising how satisfying the meal was. Linda was just fantastic—what a great personality! We chatted for a long while, and as locals came in, the atmosphere became even more vibrant. If you enjoy cozy and lively spots that locals cherish, this place is for you. I love small, independent pubs like this one. It’s definitely a spot I plan to return to, especially on Thursday and Saturday evenings, knowing I’ll receive friendly service and enjoy the company of other locals. Thank you so much for the AWESOME experience, Linda! It’s no surprise that some of their regulars have been coming here for 30 years. It’s all about the atmosphere. This is a great place to visit—truly a quality hidden gem.
I had a Philly Cheesteak and fries. Amazing! The beer on tap was very good. Great service! Lisa was very nice and very attentive to the customers. She put a lot of care into that sandwich, and it showed. I wish I lived closer, but the next time I get a craving for a Philly, White House is where I'm going. It was one of the best I've ever had.
While in Omaha on business I randomly picked a local sports bar that just happened to be within a mile of my hotel. The reviews looked pretty solid so I gave this one a try. This place is very quaint and unassuming on the outside. Growing up in a small town I can definitely appreciate that. When I arrived I was the only one who grabbed a table. The only one. There were several patrons at the bar who seemed to know each other. They were very friendly. I asked for a food menu and it was very straightforward. Cheeseburger, Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Battered Mushrooms, Philly Cheesesteak, etc. They were very inexpensive. I ordered a Mushroom and Swiss Burger with Battered Mushrooms. OMG. It was like stepping into a time portal back to my childhood. You can't get bar food like this anywhere else. I was surprised that I was the only one eating. Do people know about this gem? I'll be back.
