The Blacksmith's Inn is a beloved restaurant for our family, and we were fortunate to be one of the first customers back to celebrate a special birthday. The food was outstanding, and we appreciated the welcoming and laid-back attitude of the staff. The birthday girl was thoroughly impressed. Thank you!
We stopped in here for lunch on a gorgeous summer day and it was delightful sitting out in the courtyard with the sun shining through the trees. A very casual country vibe and the food was pretty good too. Overall just a pleasant relaxing experience.
I ordered 6 natural oysters for entree and they were a disappointment: quite small and not worthy of the pricetag. Plus having to spit out 4 pieces of shell further irritated me; 2/10 for this dish. I 'd suggest they put this as a 'specials board '...seasonal item rather than keep them as a regular menu item. Mains for me was a Chicken Caesar which I 'd rate 5/10: no anchovies, soft croutons and undercooked poached egg whites; however the abundance of bacon and parmesan shavings were what saved it a little. Kitchen service needs much improvement: for our table of six, one person was served their mains 10 minutes before entrees were served to others and then the rest of the mains dishes took about 10 minutes to all come from the kitchen once they later began arriving. The selection of beers on tap were fine for my tastes.Overall I 'd give my first dining experience at Blacksmiths Inn a 5/10. In short: Specials board should also be reserved for those menu items where the quality of ingredients can be unpredictable and kitchen service timing needs to lift considerably.
I am writing this review on behalf of my wife we recently went out to lunch with a group of people for lunch, my meal was ok but my wife ordered surf and turf more like surf and stink.Literally her steak was off very off...it smelt when it was served to her so the staff must have known about this when it was prepared and cooked. She cut it with a knife and gas yes gas bubbled out from the meat. I cannot see how any of the staff did not pick this up the meat was rotten, it should never have been served, the waitress was apologetic and gave us a refund but my wife could have had food poisoning from it if she ate it. No she was not happy and we dine out quite a lot this example was the worst ever. As for my meal it was ok.
