There are beautiful pictures on the wooden panel walls. The bar is a must. The food is perfect as always and the decorations are untouched. Always cool and comfortable, the staff is friendly and you haven't waited long until your food arrives. We order our meals family style and it comes to start with tea and luck cookies. Followed by a delicious wine soup and crispy noodles. We order the same dinner every time. Under $10 per person you get the soup several main courses including: Sweet and Sour Pork, Chicken Chow Mein, Pork Fried Rice, Mandel Chicken, BBQ Spareribs, Fried Shrimp, Chicken yougow and Mandel cookies. It's our favorite. Each taste fills the other. By the way, the Chow is all vegetables, no spaghetti noodles here. They are very generous with their best ingredients, e.g. snow bses, and signature sauces. We love to visit special ocestions and will be back this weekend for our 35. Anniversary with some friends. We have all grown up food in this restaurant, so please visit, you will not be disappointed.
This restaurant has been here since I was born, and for so long I came here. Some say it's outdated, and maybe it is. I still find the slatwood that stimulates me. The prices are outdated, and this is a good thing! This is just good old-fashioned Chinese cuisine, COOKED BY CHINESE!!! You will still get fru-fru drinks with parasols as there is a bar connected... one of these old fashion dark bars that the neighborhoods still like. The owner Mrs. Gin, who doesn't mind if I say she's eighty, still comes every day and leads the place with her son Gary. It is located under the Old California Hotel (now unused), which used to be a popular stop for normal folk and movie stars alike. Thhis was back when you drove to Palm Springs and other locations on Route 66 or Holt Boulevard. In any case, everything here is good and the prices are right. Best crispy noodles and almond cookies!
