Spring rolls were tasty. and my companions seemed pleased with the Wonton soup and rice & scrimp dish. I think I will be back in the colder weather and enjoy the Wonton Soup dish
We were recommended to try this place some time ago, and we had high expectations, but I think any expectations are hard to meet with this place. The food was cold, it took forever (probably related) and the staff were really rude when we were there. We don't even get tempted to try again.
ServiceI ate there this past weekend. On the outside of the restaurant it is clearly advertised that they take debit and credit. Upon sitting down and receiving the menu, I verified with the server if they take debit and credit, as we did not have cash on us, she confirmed that she did. I noticed while I was eating my meal when another customer went to pay the lady asked if he had cash and he said no, and she was reluctant to take his credit card, but she did. When myself and my mother went to pay she told us the debit/credit machine was down despite making no effort to attempt the transaction on the debit/credit machine and despite the fact that a previous customer had just paid with credit. When we further asked the lady to try the machine she refused and did not make eye contact. As a result we had drive to TD to take out cash (or else have a service charge to take out cash at the Scotia Bank across the street) and then double back to the restaurant. I understand that paying via debit/credit involves a service charge to the business. However we did not appreciate being lied to when we first sat down for our meal that they can accept debit/credit only to have the server not even attempt the transaction and tell us that the machine was down. Based on this dishonesty/inconvenience I would never come back here. Food I had the chicken pad thai and my mother had a salmon curry. Compared to thai places in Toronto this place is subpar. My pad thai tasted like it was made with ketchup and the chicken pieces in the pad thai tasted old/freezer burnt. As well the pad thai was quite oily and did not sit well on my stomach the throughout the day in comparison to other thai food I have had. If you are looking for good thai food in Orangeville, Thai 4 You is the place to go for delicious quality thai food and good service that takes ALL forms of payment.
When I am in need of something quick but damn tasty I would prefer to eat here over any chain. Many choices for all types of customer, will try to work with any allergies, and friendly staff. My go to is 34 don't know what it's called but I know I like it. You should also try the fresh or crispy spring rolls. I am actually starting to drool thinking about this place.
With the proliferation of Pho style restaurants in the area, South 88 maintains a good flavour and portion size in its standard bowls. Smaller restaurant with lots of options, it a good option for that quick bowl of warmth on the cold nights.
