The asparagus was very good and I would take a whole plate of that; while my couscous was bland and tasteless. My mom ordered the Rib Eye and asked for her steak rare but when it came it was medium. Also, her potatoes were undercooked. My sister's calamari was also bland and tasteless. Adding to the bland food, it was served on chipped plates which isn't very classy. The food was overpriced compared to what we got. But to fair we got $10 off the steak for it being cooked wrong.
Oh my gosh. Get the earth sea, or ocean sea, or whatever they call it. This place is awesome. Relaxed, laid back, wonderful. Gabe, the bartender/manager ? sort of imparts a contentment into the room. Definitely stop here.
Awesome dinner at the Orcas Hotel! Be prepared for menu changes from what is listed online. 4/5 stars due to being out of shrimp during our visit, which altered 3 of the main courses on the already limited menu. The woman who helped us was lovely and recommended some great options. Because we stayed at the hotel itself, we had two free dinner entrees to choose, not limited to a certain type of price. We ordered a pretty basic bottle of merlot and the mussels as an appetizer. I'd never had mussels before and was quite pleased with them along with the yummy sauce to soak bread in. Main entrees were the vegetarian lasagna and the ribeye, both were very good, with the ribeye winning. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and had an amazing glaze that ultimately made the dish. The lasagna had a little too much tomato sauce on top, but once it was scraped off it was also amazing. Both dishes came with asparagus that wasn't anything fancy but was still very delicious. For dessert, we had the chocolate cheesecake which was super rich and delicious. I would most definitely dine here again.
We went here on a Sunday evening for an anniversary dinner. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and we were turned away at the door. We were told we were too big of a party for them and they pushed us to the cafe next door. They were very rude at the cafe and when I took the clam chowder back for being spoiled, I was told it looks like the clam chowder they always serve and fought us for our money back. It was such a disappointing experience because we've heard it's delicious food but we will never be back.
This was a great little cafe that my mom and I swung into on a recent trip to orcas. I had the portobella mushroom sandwich and a cup of the local clam chowder, both of which were delicious. The sandwich was made to order and came out hot and fresh and fries on the side. The clam chowder is made daily and once it's gone, it's gone I would definitely recommend it! The clams were firm and chewy and the soup base wasn't too thick or too thin. The view was great as well overlooking the ferry dock! Great place to drop by either waiting for the ferry or upon arrival at orcas.
