Village Inn Cafe - Orinda

Found by chance. Pleasant surprise. I had the turkey avo club sandwich. It was great. All the other food I saw was great. Definitely recommend this place for super casual good food.

Fast service and delicious food. We have the eggs Benedict with bacon and the chicken waffles and share. My friend and I thought both dishes were delicious. They had outside seats that we appreciate

6/19/22 The Super Scramble with the Belgian waffle hit the square this morning. 3/26/22 I tried the Eggs Benedict again, why don't they use Canadian Bacon? Instead, it still comes with Black Forest Ham deli meat. Oh, good... 2/20/22 I had the Huevos Con Chorizo this morning. Is it me or is the part getting smaller or the plates getting bigger? The taste is okay, but it doesn't come close to Kurt and Kathy's! 8/1/21 The Super Scramble with chorizo, onions, mushrooms, spinach and cheese was great! The pancakes were also pretty good! They followed the health dept. Recommendations for the distancing of interior and masks, which gave us a little more pleasant food in interiors since the elevated exterior seat was full! 6/11/21 Nice to see them again with a waiting list from the door on Sunday morning! I tried the Corned Beef Hash again after three years. It came with 2 eggs and a short stack of pancakes. I expected a traditional type of horned beef hash with diced potatoes, onions and peppers and evenly cooked, instead I was disappointed by the soggy center, over boiled on the outer hash brown shindle with different sizes of beef included. Changing a time-tested breakfast classic work if it is better, that was not! 5/13/18 Again I don't wait for space. I had the Corned Beef Hash (like the former half order) and it is not as humid and tasty as the previous owner Corned Beef... 4/15/18 New owners, similar menu, similar open and tight times. Some new items on the menu; Eggs Benedict-Ham really (Black Forest Sandwich Meat) or Bacon (sold Canadian Bacon on the menu). Doesn't contain fruit, so if you don't want the potatoes, type of simped portion... Huevos Rancheros with chorizo; unlike before, no tortillas with cheese! Instead, dice eggs with chorizo, 3 lashy tortillas, cold and runny black beans. Food seems to sit on the pick-up counter awhile and are not always delivered to the table at the same time as before... pain grow? No waiting Saturday morning at 10, good for us, but no good sign for the restaurant?

Really love their Spicy Tofu Scramble. It's only mildly spicy and completely vegan. I requested no potatoes and no toast and added avocado and spinach which made it even healthier! If you're extra hungry, add a veggie burger patty on the side.

Service was good and the place was clean, but the atmosphere was incredibly bland and most importantly, the food was incredibly bland. I got an omelette and pancakes. The pancakes were on but nothing to write home about. The omelette (ham and cheese) somehow had very little taste at all. It tasted as boring as it looked on its otherwise empty late.
