Go early to avoid having to queue as the place is pretty small and cosy. They also have limited manpower and each pancake takes at least 15 minutes and more to prepare. It’s fluffy and pillowy soft. The cream is also light and not too sweet. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Namba area.
There are pros and cons. Waited in line for 1hr I timed my queue. Food was good but service was a bit slow. Had the chestnut macaroon souffle pancake (which is only available during the autumn season) and the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The pancake was good nice and soft and fluffy but not much chestnut taste. The eggs Benedict was nice too but the egg yolks wasn't as runny as I expected poached eggs would be and hollandaise sauce wasn't that great.
As much as I would like to give 5 stars, there was one issue I couldn't ignore. The food here is great. The fluffy pancakes are very tasty and the lemon cream sausage pasta was exceptional. The atmosphere is very nice. The restaurant has limited seating as it gives an appearance as if you are in a house. The one issue I had, was during the wait to be seated. There is no sign in sheet, or a specific line area. I was simply told to wait outside because our group has 5 people. Naturally others began to wait after us, but you could see the confusion as to why nobody was being seated or why any staff wouldn't come out to take names. Then a random couple was cold so they went inside to wait and for some reason were seated taking up one of the tables being held for our group. So everybody outside had to wait longer. Finally they had two tables to put together for us and seated us. Then they just started seating anybody who decided to stand behind us, not necessarily in line. So more organisation for the waiting section is greatly needed because when you start seating people who show up late before the people who were waiting it causes a lot of confusion and anger. You can just feel it in the faces of a few people.
Nice cozy cafe type restaurant. We visited specifically for the fluffy Japanese pancakes but ordered other items on the menu while we were there. Be mindful that this cafe only seats about 25 people so on a busy day you may have to wait in a long line just to get in. Also, most people go there to order the fluffy pancakes too they take about 20min to get to your table so it 's not exactly a constant quick turn around of customers. Another note is that I wouldn 't care to go there with a big party or even a party over 4 people. It 's just not the kind of space that can accommodate big groups. It 's pretty cramped already. That being said, we had a great experience here overall even after a 45min wait to get inside. I ordered a hot green tea latte which was good came to our table with the cutest design on it. Food wise we ordered a pork wrap which tasted ok. We also ordered a spinach mushroom truffle omelet which was tasty. Both came with a light salad pan fried potatoes. We ate those for lunch then waited for our fluffy pancakes so we could eat it as dessert . The fluffy pancakes were AMAZING!! THEE BEST pancakes I 've ever had. They melted in your mouth as if you were eating a cloud. So delicious!! We normally choose not to wait in lines that long just for food but we were on vacation it was our last day. The fluffy pancakes were on our list so we wanted to cross it off....so we crossed it off the list it was so worth the wait!! You should definitely give it a try. Just try to go right at 9am when they first open up to avoid the wait in line.
