This charming little restaurant serves fresh seafood and I would rate the food 5 out of 5.
I was really disappointed this time. Anticuchos were the smallest and thinest pieces ever and without the anticucho flavor. Last time I was there, they were bigger and delicious. Papa a la Huancaina lacked flavor and the same for the chicken arroz chaufa. Peruvian food has much more flavor and portions are much bigger, I know because I am peruvian. After this experience, I don’t think I’ll go back.
The food at this restaurant was generally lacking in flavor, with the beef stew and cuarteto limo being particularly bland. The waiter inquired about our spice preferences for the ceviche, but despite asking for it to be very spicy, it was not. Even my children noticed the lack of heat. However, my son did enjoy the polla a la brasa. We requested hot sauce, which unfortunately also fell short in terms of taste. In comparison to a Peruvian restaurant in White Plains that I frequent, which boasts incredible sauces and flavors, this establishment paled in comparison. Additionally, the service left much to be desired as we had to continually seek out the waiter for assistance and he failed to check on us or clear our dishes. I was surprised to see an 18% gratuity automatically added for our party of 5, including 3 children. The atmosphere and space were pleasant, but overall, I would not return to this restaurant. Despite claims on the menu, it is certainly not the best in town. I left feeling disappointed.
The only downside was the noise from a busy intersection outside the restaurant. The dining room was nice, although it lacked a bit of charm. I personally did not enjoy the Eminem soundtrack playing in the background, as it felt out of place. However, overall, it was a fantastic meal that could easily compare to what you would eat in Peru, Miami, or Manhattan. Definitely worth trying.
