Bier Markt - Ottawa

Went with Boss and co-workers for nice social meeting. We sat inside where there were very few tables seated when we arrived yet ii took quite sometime to get a visit from the wait staff. The waiter was clearly struggling to handle the small amount of tables, and as it got a bit busier, he all but disappeared. We were there for 3.5 hours and i managed to get 3 drinks and never received the multiple requested waters. The drinks I did get were delivered by a waitress we flagged down. Finally, it took 45 min from request for the check to actually cashing out. The food on the other hand was very good and very fresh. I understand there a lot of resource issues, but this performance was clearly indicative of poor management, not even sure there was management there.

Other than fire alarm, food good, beer menu shrank drastically, but I understand the circumstances (covid , server seemed a bit inexperienced, but friendly. A bit too noisy (need to add elements to reduce noice reverb. .

Service was excellent and enjoyed the variety of beers....ordered 3 appetizers...the flat bread was excellent...the chicken and duck wings were very tasty, but very disappointed with the amount we got...like 7 or 8 wings for nearly $20.....probably won't be back cause found it too expensive fir the amount of food we got...Shareable wings were really good, but only enuff for one person...but our evening was enjoyable..thx

A lot of oddities. We arrived for our reservation and the patio was empty. We asked if we could go to the patio and were told no, they don’t do patio reservations. So we went inside, and asked our waitress. She was amazing and said “yes, why wouldn’t you be able to be outside!” And she got us a table. Then my husband tried a sample beer, and he opted for a full glass. The beer he was given was no the same, it was cloudy and just didn’t taste right. It took 3 times for our waiter to get “management” to agree to comp it. The bathrooms were disgusting, can’t lie. One toilet was closed and overflowing, and it just smelled bad.

We have always enjoyed the food, but this time around the shnitzel was overcooked for 2 out of 3 of our meals. The spaetzle was much too salty as well.
