We did spend lots of money there. One of the Owner , the older Gentleman ; he is tall and slim , he told me over a month ago that I smell bad and I look like shift . What a nice Gentleman to treat and loosing respect to their loyal customers .
The location of this Cafe is amazing. The inside is cute with huge windows to look out into the byward. Service is really nice. I can't really speak to their food but their tea and coffee is great. I had a muffin which was alright. It was nothing special but I went in the evening and I'm guessing they're baked in the morning so there's that. They also have really good wifi.
The best thing about this cafe is the location. It's right in the heart of the market, so you can sit by the windows and people watch. In the summer, the walls come up and open up the space which lets in fresh air and makes it feel like all the liveliness of the market is part of the restaurant. The sandwiches are delicious and the staff is very friendly. Overall, a great experience that I'd recommend to anyone.
Central location in the byward and a large variety of sandwiches and sweets. I don't come here as often as I should, it is especially nice in the winter if youre in the market and looking to duck inside for a cup of coffee or tea (generic brand tea is served, nothing special).
Cafe 55 offers some welcome (not to mention healthy! lunch options in a super central location in the Byward Market. This is my kind of fast food. I had a perfectly good roasted veggie and cheese panini (many other kinds of sandwiches are available . I had a choice of two salads and chose broccoli and a cold noodle salad and both totally hit the spot. The bean salad is apparently very good too. It was quick to go in and out. Service was great. The coffee was hot. Seating is plentiful and there is sheltered patio seating too. I'd go again!
