I am always uncertain if the restaurant is closed down or not as the lighting on the outside is suspect either totally not working or partially working. We had been to the restaurant in the past and were not really wowed by the service or the quality of food. When we arrived, again some of the exterior lighting was not working properly. The exterior entrance was scattered with litter and cigarette butts and was a little off putting. When we entered the restaurant there was a strange smell of cleaning product musty smell. Upon entering we were immediately greeted and sat at a booth by the host. The restaurant was somewhat busy with other patrons. The server host came back and quickly took our drink orders. The drinks (beer and root beer) were cold and delicious. The server took our dinner order. We had the buffalo chicken wrap and the chicken parm. Both meals were surprisingly delicious and satisfying. The accompanying pasta with the chicken parm and the garden salad with the buffalo wrap were well dressed. The service was good other than when we finished our dinner it took a while to get our bill. We would likely go back for a quick, convenient and tasty meal. Additionally, the cost for our meal was quite reasonable (approx $60 for 2 including tip).
We were not expecting much based in visits to other locations, but were pleasantly surprised. The wings were tasty and a good size, nachos were good as well, the fish and chips were ok. We would go back if we were in the area.
Earlier last week I was able to take my father out for a beer and dinner while using a Cara Gift Card we had recently acquired by redeeming some Scene points. We headed to Kelsey's (Elmvale Shopping Centre, 1910 St. Laurent Boulevard, Ottawa) to check out how well this location does in a dated local area shopping centre vs the traditional big box store format.
Still good. After many years of coming here, the menu changes, staff come and go, but everything still impresses me. Food is always good and staff are always on their game. This applies to all Kelsey's I just didn't want to do each one seperately.
