This simple little lunch and coffee place caught me off guard with a humble lunch special, chicken salad sandwich with a chicken soup and salad. It showed nobility in simplicity, the chicken soup, clearly home made in a well cooked broth as evidenced by the eyes of fat floating In it, perfectly salted. The chicken salad sandwich was served on a fresh, crisp whole wheat baguette hugging tender chicken salad, not the small pieces smothered in mayo of fast food land, but delicately tossed in a recipe I am now compelled to revisit. The salad was of fresh arugula, tomatoes, surprisingly fresh for this time of year, and cucumbers with a lovely oil and vinegrette dressing on the side. Clearly the couple who owns this cares to a rare degree about the quality of their product and I am grateful they have awakened in me the joy in simple and unexpected pleasures.
