Contribuisci feedbackAmazing and friendly pub! But not your average pub! Our server, Laura, was awesome with her big smile and her help with our food and drink menu. Cheers Laura! The food? We got starters, as my friend and I weren't that hungry. What a great choice! Defintely not your average pub food, for sure! We ordered the Reuben Egg Rolls, the Tequilla Garlic Shrimp and Guacamole (crispy tortillas with home made avocado dip)! Incredibly delicious!Kudos to the chef! Then, add a shared bowl of Deep Fried Ice cream, for dessert?! Priceless! Can't wait to return for lunch or dinner, and introduce this place to my hubby! Cheers and thank you for the service and awesome food! Clo
I think they make it on site and it's excellent. I have this review a 4 because the service was a bit off. Forgotten orders, delayed delivery of some meals, multiple requests needed for some things....but the food is outstanding.
It was supposed to be a great place for a birthday celebration. We had a seat on the rooftop patio. The place was crowded, but service was quick. I started out with a drink while waiting for my friends. The Raspberry Cosmo was delicious and very satisfying. My second drink was the Triple Berry Soda. This drink comes garnished with blueberries, which I am allergic to. So this should have been a sign, the server was apologetic after he verified when I said the drink description does not say what it was garnished with. A new drink later we were set to order. We ordered the Corn Bread Topped With Pico De Gallo and Goat Cheese and the Mediterranean WonTons With a 5 Spice Peach Sauce, both were amazing For our mains we ordered the Baked Mac‘n’Cheese and The Churchill Burger. The Mac‘n’Cheese was very good, but the burger that I ordered without bacon, came with bacon. If it was a matter of just not liking bacon, I would have taken it off myself and not said a thing, but that is not the case. The bacon was on top of the burger so bacon grease would have transferred. Our server apologized and brought it back to the kitchen. He returned in 2 minutes saying that the kitchen said he had picked up the wrong dish.Okay, I look at my burger and was disappointed that this restaurant was going to be on my "Never Again" list. I didn't get a fresh burger, I got the original with the bacon taken off. What the kitchen/server didn't realize was the bacon was in pieces and they forgot to remove one of the pieces.Brought this to my server's attention and he spoke to the manager. By this time, my friend had finished her meal and I was just anxious to leave. The manage comped my meal and offered a drink or dessert on the house. We decided to leave as I had no faith in this place
I took my family here for lunch on the first really nice day in May hoping to sit on the rooftop patio but it was packed so we were seated inside. Churchills really felt like a pub which is great! I liked the high-back booth benches. Because the upstairs was packed the service was EXTREMELY slow. It was quite a wait between visits from our server and a long wait for our food. They had a good selection of drinks and beer on draught. We ordered two appetizers: Zucchini sticks and Calamari. They were both amazing although the portion sizes were a bit small for my liking. The garlic aioli that accompanied them was AWESOME!I don't remember what my family ate and frankly, I don't care. All I need to tell you about is the Rueben sandwich. I fancy myself somewhat of a Rueben connoisseur. Whenever I see it on a menu then I HAVE to have it. It's a sickness. A disease. a delicious disease. The smoked meat on Churchills' Rueben was OUTSTANDING! The flavor was crazy and it was so tender and juicy. I could have just eaten an entire plate of the meat! The cheese, dressing, rye bread, and sauerkraut was fantastic and made the Rueben what it was. The side salad was great with nice dressing and shaved vegetables. I'm giving Churchills a rating of four because the food was amazing but the services was really quite slow (annoyingly slow at times) and I found the prices a wee bit on the high side. That said, I would definitely go back to try their other dishes.
There are a lot of restaurants in Ottawa that could take a few tips from Churchill's. I was there or a work lunch of 14 people recently and we had the best service. The food was interesting, the drinks were refilled promptly and the bills settled in a reasonable amount of time. Too many decent restaurants seem to treat groups like an afterthought but based on this visit, we'll most definitely be back.
