Erling's Variety - Ottawa

Visited Erling's for the first time yesterday and it was amazing. The Cream of Mushroom soup was hand's down the best I've ever had. Everyone's meals were excellent, the price was very reasonable and the space was amazing. Will definitely be back. Perfect spot for a business lunch.

The place is a bit hidden from the main street but it’s a great discovery. The cuisine is refined and the plates are beautifully prepared.The decoration is very hipster. There is a huge shelving unit with plenty of random stuff on it, which makes it somehow cosy. On the other side, there was an exhibition of paintings for sale.The kitchen is completely open. On the one hand, it’s entertaining to watch the chefs cooking and on the other, it’s a good way to engage with them. In fact, it’s possible de give a round of beer to the staff which creates a very pleasant link between the cooks and the customers.The service was also very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it for a date.

Nous avons pris 6 plats au choix que nous nous sommes partagés. Très chouette concept. A ne pas louper.

Friendly and helpful service, delicious food with inventive and surprisingly successful food combinations, great ambiance, just off Bank St in the Glebe.

Sometimes chefs try to be creative in their combination of exotic ingredients and it ends up looking nice but tasting peculiar. The chef at Erling's clearly has an intuitive sense of what flavours, when combined, will create something new and spectacular.The small plates we tried (scallops, rabbit, venison etc.) were totally unique but most of all they were tasty.Prices are reasonable and the service was excellent - friendly but not obsequious and the setting is pleasant. We loved the funky playlist. The music was present but not overwhelming and it has been a while since I heard "These Boots are made for Walking".We liked this place so much we purchased gift certificates so other family members will try it. They will not be disappointed.
