Le Kim Chi - Ottawa

I had lunch at Le Kim Chi today. It was my first visit, but I will probably go back. I ordered a spicy pork stir fry, which was one of the lunch specials. It was served "bento box" style, with side dishes of spiced potatoes, kimchi and a bean sprout salad. The bent box included sticky rice, a salad that might as well be called coleslaw, glass noodles, and spicy pork. Everything was tasty (although a little bit oily, too). The pork was lean and not gristly or tough, and there was plenty of it. Overall the meal was quite enough for lunch, especially with two starches (rice and potatoes). Although I had lunch at about 1:00, I was almost alone in the restaurant. I found that surprising, although it may have to do with the newness factor. It hasn't been open that long. In fact, the interior décor betrays a former life as an Italian restaurant, with prints of wine bottles, grape leaves and tomatoes vying for space with Asian-themed murals - a strange juxtaposition. Service was polite and my meal came quickly. I had to go to the counter to pay, because both of the staff were engrossed in their cellphones and weren't paying much attention to the sparsely populated dining room (three tables occupied, including my own). My meal was $13.00 including tax - not a bad price for a pretty good lunch.

We had a Sunday dinner at Le Kim Chi recently. I ordered the beef short ribs, my husband ordered beef bulgogi, and two others had the supper bento box: shrimp teriyaki, pork, beef, etc. etc. EVERYTHING was delicious! It was our second time trying Korean food and I can't tell you how wonderful it is. The food is so tasty. I can't wait to go back. We've all decided that we want to try the spicy stews, cooked at the table, next! Delish! The restaurant is unpretentious but comfortable and clean and the quality of the cuisine is more important than the interior decoration!

I am not always up for venturing into new food experiences but this one was worth it. There were choices that I could try and the food was quite good (I think I will try what my friend tried next time). The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is quite nice - great place to spend a relaxing evening with friends. Will definitely return!

Best Korean restaurant in Ottawa. Order M9 and M6 and finger licking beef short ribs and you would come back every time u think Asian/Korean
