Ottawa Kabab

This restaurant is a nice place for dinner. The salads, including Hummus and Baba Ganouch, were very tasty. The kababs didn't have the authentic Iraqi flavor, but were still good. The khubz (bread) was the best part. The service was good, with a friendly girl waiter who spoke Arabic, making us feel like we were in Baghdad. However, the prices were a bit high, with the meal costing 50 Canadian dollars. Overall, a good experience.

Now Ottawa has quite a few places with grilled meats, but don't go anywhere else but here. I ate in with friends in dining room (nice natural light and decor) and we were all impressed. We wanted to taste all 3 styles of kabab (steak, chicken and ground beef), which made for a very large plate. The chicken (shish taouk) was a big hit. I really enjoyed the streak and the ground beef, although not typically my favourite was the best I've ever had! We enjoyed so much we took an order for take-out a week later with more friends. Again, a great hit! I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return.

Ottawa Kabab, the name of course tells you its a middle eastern restaurant but the word "Iraqi" is also on the placard so you know its 'the Iraqi Kabab' we are going to enjoy.I decided to write a review after my second visit and here I am ordering another meal for to go!Top on the list of dishes on the menu are of course the Kabab and what most people don't know is the special Iraqi fish dish "Masghoof". but the later you must order a day in advance so they have it ready for you when you arrive as it takes time to cook on charcoal. The other dishes are typical Iraqi dishes that are no less than the ones mentioned in quality , but most households cook at home. your meal starts with the typical lentil soup bowl , but wait it is no way near typical, its a taste from heaven! Just amazing! I heard that its an Iraqi family business restaurant so that must be why the food is homely and as an Iraqi myself we can tell if the cook or chef has great taste and feel for good food when we taste their cooking. I give them a full mark for the food.As for the decor its nice and modern and clean. I would have liked to see more paintings or wall decoration that would add more to the identity of the place, I must say I didn't like the idea of keeping the baby high chairs in the ladies restroom. I would go again and again with no hesitation at all.

First time in Ottawa and first time in this place suggested by a friend.The food is awesome!!I've spent may years in the Middle East for work and this is really the first time I can eat Arabic food with such great and original flavors outside the Middle East.We had the mixed grill, all the meat was delicious!Very good the tabuleh and the hummus as well.If you want to try Arabic food with its original flavors, that's the perfect place!

Wide variety of Iraqi food. Recommend the kabab and sheesh taowok. Great ambience and friendly staff.
