I had never tried this type of eggplant before - they were round, the size of golf balls, and quartered. The texture was similar to zucchini on the outside, but had the familiar pulp and seeds on the inside. While the shrimp was cooked well, the squid was slightly rubbery. The dish also included baby corn, basil, thinly sliced bell peppers, tofu, and more, all in a medium heat yellow curry sauce. The combination of textures and flavors was delightful. The service at Phuket Royal was pleasant and efficient, making for an enjoyable dining experience.
The service at this restaurant is excellent. The space is large, clean, and tastefully decorated. My husband enjoyed a delicious small bowl of lemongrass soup. What really impressed me was that they offer vegetable pho without tofu, which is hard to find in Ottawa. The bowl was filled with fresh vegetables and the broth was delicious. I loved it and will definitely be back, maybe even tomorrow.
Excellent service and the food was amazing! From the moment we walked in we felt welcome. Staff had sincere smiles and the desire to give us a positive experience. We also learned a little about their culture and they were more than happy to share a few things with us.
A strong entry into Ottawa 's Thai food scene, up there with but I would say not quite equal to) Silver Spoon and Talay Thai. Their price-to-tastiness ratio P:T ratio), which for me is a key metric, is excellent. I 'd also highlight the serving sizes as being particularly generous. We always get at least two lunches for two from a $30 takeout order, if not a lunch and a dinner. Round it out with super-fast takeout service >15 minutes) and I 'd say 'LET 'S PHUKET ROYAL '! Or... maybe I wouldn 't... that was a tad awkward.
We ordered the Vietnamese Beef Stew and Chicken Yellow Curry. The curry was really good and portion size was respectable with good quality chicken meat, unlike some other restaurants that seem to use weirdly textured chicken. The Beef Stew absolutely blew us away. The broth as so rich and full of flavour, the noodles perfectly cooked, and the beef was so succulent and juicy. I cannot recommend the beef stew highly enough. Great service too! Maly was very friendly and knowledgeable of how the food is made.
