Zak's Diner - Ottawa

Today, I thought I would try Zak's Diner in Kanata for breakfast! It has been years that I have dined in at my 1st Zak's restaurant and that was for supper in the Byward Market. I find the menu was rather small, listing breakfast, lunch

Visited again on our trip from the UK.Unfortunately we were not seated in a booth and did not like the tables at the back of the restaurant. ( very busy space with staff at the coffee station and delivering food from the kitchen walking back and forth around our table) Having said that, the staff were friendly and our food very good. Enormous portions!

Greeting was pleasant and informative on arrival - I asked how long the wait was greeter said 10-20mins working with a time limit I requested first available seat even if it meant eating at the bar - she offered the bar almost immediately where we proceeded to be ignored by servers at the bar in favour of at least two people that paid at the bar.Eventually I caught the servers eye and she told me it would be at least a ten minute wait before she even got back to us - so we left - no coffee offered whilst we waited .not impressed at all-it's a long weekend -guess what -people go for breakfast ! Schedule more staff or your risk losing the customers

Food here is pretty typical diner food. Great big milkshakes and huge platters of food, but nothing special. Not dissin' it, just saying. The day we went for lunch it was busy, so service was a bit slow.

I had gone to the spot downtown a couple of years ago, and did not think it was too good, but the lady convinced me to try this place, and so I did. The food was of very average quality, but the prices were pretty bad considering what you get! I would not return to this place again! Save your money and go somewhere else, where the value is better!
