La Sombra Del Manzano - Oviedo

We had lunch here after visiting the stunning Cathedral which is only 5 mins away. Two of us had the menu of the day which at 10 euros per person was incredible value. We had melon and jamon salad followed by sardines and then cheese cake all absolutely fresh and delicious. Our waiter could not have been more friendly. Highly recommended.

I think that the restaurant brings a nice twist to Gascona, Oviedo's famous home of traditional Asturian food and sidrerias. We sat outside and had a lovely time. The service was great and the decor inside was modern but also had a bit of Asturian charm. We shared various dishes amongst the four of us and enjoyed each one. My boyfriend, a tough critic and Oviedo native, loved it! I love me a good cachopo and the cacopho rolls were creative and delicious. We will visit again and again. Another friend of mine says they also have a great lunch menu available for an unbelievable price. I will be back!

It was our first full day in Oviedo and it was nearing 2pm....lunchtime in Spain. So, we decided to try La Sombra del Manzano because it was near where we were standing...by the statue of La Gitana. We ordered chicken wings and an eggplant dish. Both were tasteless and very greasy. A true disappointment ... the servers were attentive enough as they had to keep the sidra flowing :

Comimos menú fin de semana y calidad precio muy bien. Nos atendieron dos chicas muy agradables. La ensalada de rulo de cabra y la fabada muy buena. El cachopo de jamón y queso muy rico tambein. Pedimos para la niña finger de pollo, y tanto el pollo como el rebozado que estaba súper crujiente y la salsa de mostaza genial también.
