Birgit's Pastry Cafe - Owen Sound

Saturday morning tradition is a breakfast sandwich at the market, the apricot danishes are rreally good as well.

Set among so much wonderful art, in the Owen Sound Artist's Co-op, Birgit's Pastry Café is it's own thing of beauty. Often over looked in the downtown area, it's the perfect place for lunch or a grab and go. The coffee is great! The sandwiches are delicious with creative twists and the soups are to die for. All hand crafted using fresh, local ingredients! The desserts are the icing on the cake! European style yumyums, tarts and pastries! This lady knows what she is doing! A visit is a must!

Was downtown and had seen the a-frame sign a view times and today my tapeworm got the best of me...and I am glad it did. Service was pleasant and fast and how nice to walk around in the Artist Co-op and browse while waiting. The chef even found me in said gallery when it was ready, food in hand. The prices are spot on for fresh, homemade and healthy options so not sure where Sharon K normally eats but a full size sandwich and large soup was around $13.00.This place will do very well once the word gets out.

I have eaten at this cafe multiple times now and literally everything I've had is delicious. The service is wonderful and sunny, the prices very reasonable, and the food is above-and-beyond. This is the perfect place to grab lunch, coffee, and an amazing dessert. Can't recommend it enough.
