Lula's Louisiana Cookhouse - Owosso

I regret that I never had the opportunity to taste the food at Lula's. Despite living in Owosso since 2012, I never made it to Lula's. It saddens me that I will never have the chance to try their dishes.

Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed due to a devastating early morning fire on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.

Only got to eat there once between their Covid closing and the fire today. Was going to be in the area tomorrow for a booster shot and was surprised it had burned down. I feel so much for the crew of the place, having this happen so close to Christmas. We ate there often before Covid. Never disappointed.

My wife and I have very fond memories of lulas.. we were excited to see them bounce back after the shutdown, and the accident that happened to the owner. Major hurdles were overcome!! However, about a month ago 11/21 we made reservations for dinner. Once we arrived I needed to use the restroom. Now I understand how understaffed the service industry is currently, and cleaning the bathroom in a public place is nobody's idea of fun. But at the price point of their menu and the limited time they're open, I feel the restroom could've been made a priority... especially when the whole world is hyper focused on germs and bacteria.. I was disappointed with the lack of attention to detail. All that said, the service was fantastic as usual, polite, attentive, and outgoing! The food was just okay this time though.. something wasn't right with the pork belly.. Hopefully they can tighten up the ship, because they have a great thing going! Just need a little more focus on cleanliness.

The food is tasty but by no means cajun, but if you've never eaten true creole or cajun food then you be your own judge, but I was raised on creole and I cook nothing but cajun and for me it was a disappointment.
