The staff was really accommodating and attentive and she even let us try out flavours when we were making up our minds. We got 2 flavours, the DAIM Super Chocolate on a waffle with toppings. The super chocolate was really rich and thick, and the portion was enough without making you feel sick while the DAIM had crunch to it. Slightly disappointing was the waffle which felt undercooked, had more of a floury doughy texture than crispy. Topped with melting ice-cream, it felt like wet bread that ruined the dish than a companion to the ice cream. Additionally, when taking our utensils, we noticed that they were not cleaned very thoroughly, some food particles from previous patrons were still on the fork, and the other knives and forks had (what I hope to be) water spot stains. Overall, great flavours, but could improve on the other factors.
The food at this restaurant is good and it has a nice atmosphere where you can sit and relax with your laptop, making it very convenient for students. However, the only downside is the state of the toilet. There were stains of blood and urine on the toilet paper dispenser and sink, as well as a noticeable amount of dust and yellow stains, indicating that it has not been properly cleaned in a long time. Hygiene is crucial, especially in a place where we eat and drink, so cleanliness should not be overlooked.
I have no complaints about the staff, as they were friendly, but the extremely high prices of the menu items make this place a no-go. Paying 5 pounds for a microwaved bagel with no cheese is just ridiculous. Additionally, paying 2.85 for a scoop of ice cream feels like a rip-off. I left the establishment feeling unsatisfied and 20 pounds lighter in my wallet. Overall, not a great experience.
This restaurant is charming with a wide-ranging menu. While some dishes lean towards the sweet side, there are plenty of options for vegetarians. My daughter and I loved their sesame seed and poppy seed bagels filled with soft cheese and salmon or tuna. The staff is particular about seating arrangements, which may seem a bit rigid and old-fashioned. However, overall it was a delightful and fulfilling dining experience with nice views and a clean environment.
Tried to go in yesterday for ice cream and a coffee after a meal out, we were only going for something to eat so left out masks in the car a mile up cowley road and decided to go for dessert at the last minute however they wouldn’t let us walk through the two steps to the seating area without a mask and were really rude to us at the door. Neither of us are disrespectful in anyway and nor do we intend or try to break the rules no one in the seating area had a mask on as it is a cafe. We could have been people who couldn’t wear a mask for health reasons but instead were just treated like lepers. We are frequent customers of g and d’s and even had them at our wedding but really disappointed they couldn’t be a bit more reasonable. We would have still been more then two metres from the counter and there were no customers in the take away area. It was definitely not the crime of the century.
