Stopped by as for a sandwich rather than go to a chain cafe we wanted to go to a little independent...found Morton’s close to shopping center. Small selection of baguettes but lovely fillings shame about the rude brunette lady! She said we could have our baguettes toasted but after my boyfriend asking she seemed like this was too much hassle and asked him twice if he was sure! She huffed away to herself and said she will have to go upstairs to get it if it is toasted....erm! That is not our problem! She eventually done it and when she bought it to our table there was no ‘enjoy’ just. Shove of the plate and walked off! Avoid!!! I noticed other customers also discussing her rude behaviour !
Avoid at all cost , manager has a serious attitude and rude and the lady on the counter not much better. Visited to 24/07/19 was going to order some food but decided to use the toilet first so I could wash my hands before eating , but as I was walking up the stairs someone was shouting hello can I help you 3 times to which a lady said are you a customer as if some criminal had entered the building which was the tone of her voice , I said yes . When I came out of the loo she unbelievably shouted right you better by something , to which I said to her who are you , oh I'm the manager she said , after speaking to me like some criminal I decided not to eat in there and I told her she had a bad attitude, I also told the lady on the counter that her boss had a bad attitude , to which she very rudely shouted TELL HER YOURSELF in a nasty way. To the manager of Morton's if you do read this you also need to have them toilets cleaned and not treat your customer like something on the bottom of your shoe.
We needed something simple for lunch and passed Mortons with a good display of baguette sandwiches on display and a sign that said seating upstairs. We went in and bought three baguettes and two teas and a coffee. You have to pay at that point then take your food and drink upstairs. It is very basic, stools and a ledge running round to rest your cup on, but it is very good value. The baguettes were nice the Earl Grey tasted a little strange not sure what brand it was. Two things let it down. The gents toilets are/were horrific, dirty and smelly, and a smile for the lady behind the counter would have gone a long way.
Found this place by chance while in oxford. Looks nothing from the outside and a bit basic inside but the baguettes were just great. Really tasty. Good choice. I had vegan. We had two baguettes and two drinks for £10.50. Took the. Upstairs to eat as it was raining. Full of noisy students! No wonder really great value n good food. A bit rough round the edges. Could do with a clean. But worth a look.
