Upon arrival, we were seated at our table and the staff were helpful in explaining how the menu worked. We ordered a variety of dishes and found them all to be delicious. The cuisine was a refreshing change from typical Indian restaurants and was both flavorful and enjoyable to eat. We are excited to return and sample more dishes in the future.
I visited Mowgli with my family, including my 10-month-old twins. It is a restaurant suitable for everyone, including work nights out, couples, and friends. Despite reading some bad reviews beforehand, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. They went above and beyond to accommodate a special request and were extremely helpful with a food allergy for my baby. The staff were polite, kind, and welcoming, even though the restaurant was busy with Christmas party bookings. The food was amazing - everything we tried was delicious. My 10-month-old twins even enjoyed it, which is rare for us. They were mesmerized by the lights, adding to the experience. Overall, it was a great birthday dinner for my dad, and we left very happy. Thank you, Mowgli!
Having gone to Mowgli oxford on a previous occasion i was eager to show my friend and her children the brilliance we experienced. Having said this; disappointing doesn’t cover the service and food we experienced. First impressions in any restaurant is key to a fine dining experience for any customer on arrival to Mowgli we didn’t have any form of greeting by the 2 waitresses that where stood by the front door, not even a smile. We wasn’t asked if we wanted a table and how many for, when asking for a table of 5 (2 being children) we where placed on a 4 person table cramped and uncomfortable even though the restaurant was on the verge of empty. Having placed our orders we where given one main course before the rest, waiting for the rest of the order the main dish already served was cold, the rice..undercooked and the childrens butter chicken was spicy for a 5 year old child it wasn’t mild in the slightest. The house chicken curry was described as ‘Tame’ it came with 4 red chillies and was also…spicy. The Bill was fairly priced also the service charge was added on which was optional, when disclosing we wasn’t paying the charge the server we had became rude, was chewing gum and didn’t even bother asking why we was de-satisfied with the service provided. Appalling if I’m completely honest, chewing gum and serving customers is unprofessional and rude. We will never, ever be coming here again and would not recommend. By all means go and gain your own opinion, but go with caution.
Four of us shared a selection of tiffin box meals all were tasty and the quantities were good for us all to try each dish. We were offered, and went for, the swing seats which was fun!
I’d never eaten at a Mowgli restaurant prior to this one. I thought it was ok. The food tastes nice but is presented poorly and doesn’t offer anything particularly unique or memorable. The menu is pretty confusing, for example, it doesn’t specify what is vegan and since the cutlery holder is a tin of ghee, it wasn’t very clear unless you intended on deciphering the allergen sheet per meal. Additionally, it didn’t state if dishes needed to be paired (though it should be said that £4 for rice is quite eye watering . The dish I ordered (Holy Chow came with a lot of curry and on a flat plate which made it quite odd to eat as it felt like it was sliding a lot (wouldn’t a bowl or edged plate be better for something liquid based? . It tasted nice though and was a decent portion for the price. Service was generally poor. I can’t say I’ve eaten in many chains where the service was particularly good so I suppose it’s average in that sense but if you want to charge additional fees then the service should be better in my opinion. Probably wouldn’t give it another go.
