The sandwiches and cakes were bland, with dry carrot cake and soggy cheesecake. The scones were the highlight and saved the overall experience, earning a positive review on Tripadvisor.
This restaurant is fantastic! The food and service were excellent. The historic location and period building created the perfect atmosphere for a great lunch. We were not hurried at all and ended up staying for three hours. I highly recommend this place!
I dined here with my husband and it was a delightful experience. The restaurant has a stunning building and we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The staff were attentive and accommodating, and the food was delicious. It was an overall wonderful dining experience, enhanced by the warm and thoughtful service.
Very generous Sunday Roast. Fresh and juicy. Friendly staff and quick, efficient service. Beautifully cool dining room to escape a hot Oxford day for refreshment!
This was booked for my birthday treat. It was a very busy Saturday night. They were seating people to eat at small table near the bar and also outside (yikes, in March! . We decided to get a drink at the bar before being seated. It took awhile as the place was heaving but in the end I had a very cold Martini and the other half had a nice mocktail. We had seen the menu before but the things that intrigued were not on it. I went with the special of Cornish Sole and the OH had duck confit. He says the burrata starter was the best ever and my soup was delicious. The sole came with an amazing buerre blanc. The best ever. Part way through dining a large merry party was sat behind us. It's a small dining room and it completely interrupted our romantic dinner, but this isn't the restaurant's fault. The room is smallish and sound does travel. We did skip oudding though as the vibe had completely chnaged. Absolutely would go again.
