The James Street Tavern - Oxford

I recently visited Cowley Road and as usual went to James Street Tavern. I was surprised to see that they no longer have security guards. There were drugs found in the garden and a group of rowdy football fans causing trouble. It's not a good situation at all. The atmosphere has definitely changed since the security guards left. It's disappointing, James Street Tavern.

This restaurant is fantastic, with a great atmosphere and a modern take on traditional pub fare. I highly recommend it. Our server, Jess, was welcoming and on top of everything. She was the perfect hostess!

I visited James Street Tavern on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed the great live music. The crowd was busy but nice, with no troublemakers or drunk idiots that you often find in other places. The bouncers were surprisingly polite and friendly, especially the strong bald one with full sleeves. The bar staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a fantastic place with great organization.

I travelled up to Oxford with a friend to have a go at performing stand up I have been writing for a while. Before the night I had checked a few details using a DM on FB. I got replies very fast from the venue and they were helpful. The venue is great and the people who attend seemed lovely. I recommend it.

Myself and a group of friends went to the pub on Friday. I ordered a bottle of wine which took well over half hour to arrive which is extra long considering it was not busy. The staff we're very rude when we asked where it was and made us go though emails to prove we had paid. This was not easy as you have no properly working WiFi or signal at the pub. The food however when it finally did arrive was very nice. If you want rude staff and nice but over priced food this is your place.
