They have a great selection and while not as inexpensive as Holland Barrett, they are reasonably priced and offer some unique products. I love their delicious assortment of fresh 'ready meals' like bean curries from Laura's kitchen. But my favorite items are their homemade vegan pasties, spring rolls, pakoras, and the large chocolate coconut flapjacks that another reviewer mentioned.
I am delighted that Uhuru is still open, offering excellent food ingredients and other interesting items. I remember reading their booklets in 1977 and even hitchhiking to visit them in 1978. I have purchased multiple copies of their materials to share with friends. Thank you, Uhuru, for being a wonderful place with a rich history of educating those who seek knowledge and promoting kindness towards all beings.
Great place affordable prices super nice staff also.
When I saw organic coarse cut heifers for a fraction of the price in london, I decided to buy two kilos worth. I also found a beautiful carob refrigerator cake I loved! Finding vegan carob products in london is incredibly hard, so I was surprised and pleased to find something so delicious here. the shop is small but well designed and varied, it is also aesthetically appealing. the personal I spoke with was inquisitiw about the products I bought which was nice. overall a really pleasant experience and should I be back in oxford I will be on camp!
The food at this restaurant is top-notch and reasonably priced, without any unnecessary extravagance. The staff may come across as a bit shy at first, but they are incredibly accommodating, friendly, and helpful once you engage with them.
