Tierra Sur at Herzog Wine Cellars

What a great #DateNight. Took the beautiful drive down the Pacific Coast Highway. Timed it so that I we would see a beautiful sunset but it was overcast. However The ocean was still nice and it was cool to see all the surfers out there as we were driving. But talk about dinner and a show! This was a cellar club pick up party with entertainment by Elon gold Let's go! Course one: Beef chicken nugget.I think the highlight came right away. So so good. Perfectly crusted with the most delicious creaminess and beef cheekiness inside. YUM! Coarse two: Whenever I get duck everywhere else it's hit or miss.Tierra Sur nails it every time. Cooked perfectly with that delicious gaminess. Course three:crusted veal loin. Nice and tender and very garlicky. I should point out here how perfectly each course was paired.Even though the first three courses were paired with variations three, four, and five, they each have subtle differences which went so well with each dish. Course four: This went with the highlight of the shipment, the Rutherford Cabernet . This wine was rich and bold and the dish did not disappoint.The coffee spiced lamb chop was simply as good as it gets. It was complemented by the chocolate cherry braised lamb shoulder. Dessert: a delicious trio of Jelly ,truffle ,and a type of baklava. A perfect end to the meal. We then went out to the patio for coffee and tea and comedy with Elon Gold. This is a family show ,so all I will say is that he had a hilarious bit on how Jews put more importance on food than certain other needs. This is a wonderful restaurant inside a winery. I had the salmon which was perfectly prepared, crispy skin and medium rare center. The appetizers were terrific, and of course, the selection of wines outstanding. A great place to spend the afternoon.

I tasted three different meals and they were all exquisite, down to the bread with olive oil in garlic and rosemary . Best meal since Mama's Fish House in Maui, plus the service was fabulous . I will be going back for a special occasion , or wine tasting and tapas .

The food is amazing and the service is phenomenal. The ambiance is fantastic as well! I had lamb bacon for the first time!

Must be one of the best Kosher restaurants in the state... too bad it’s so far from La Brea and Beverly.
