Would you like some kale with your quinoa ? This quirky cafe is a hidden gem (or should I say crouching tiger:) . The food and service packs a serious punch - ticks all the boxes for a healthy and relaxed brunch .
Great place for a coffee. Lovely atmosphere in peaceful part of the city. Not easiest place to get to but definitely worth the trek.
Our group had a range of breakfast items. I had a good omelette with lots of tomato and asparagus. The chia pudding was amazing - definitely a standout. Coffee was very good and they were super accommodating of dining with a young child.
For many years, Tiger Mottle used to be one of our favourite places for weekend Brunch in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. In the last year however it’s seriously gone downhill. The coffee is still very good – caramelly, strong & flavoursome. The staff are still helpful, chatty and enthusiastic. But they constantly change, and there seem to be more helpers than customers these days. The food is well below the standard it used to be.Our go to dish has always been the ‘bubble & squeak’. It’s not the previous traditional version, with potatoes, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, peas, bacon, and poached egg. The sprouts are gone and are replaced with leafy spinach and sliced water chestnuts. A fusion dish perhaps? Not nice. The specials board always had wonderful and creative omelettes, but now we are provided a random selection of ingredient, with breads.Nevertheless, this is still a great place for coffee. It’s best drunk on the premises, either al fresco on the pavement outside, indoors in the cool shade or on the terrace upstairs.
