Mar Y Tierra - Palenque

We spent two days here in Palenque. The ruins were great. But we really had a hard time finding some decent food. So we tried this place right on the main road. It is a fairly small and basic place. But there were some interesting Mexican meals on the menu. We chose the Chicken Mole and a daily special (like a stew, but with pig shed). And a beer with it. Let's start with the only thing that pleases us: the beer. It was good and chilled! And the good things end. The pork chops tasted quite old and were chewing. The sauce is nothing special. And then the mole. It doesn't even deserve its name. It tasted like regular cattle stock added without additional spices. Nothing near being good or homemade. I'm sure it came from a store and was just warmed up. We had our share of Mole on our 5 weeks Mexico trip. And that was the worst. The taste did not remind me of everything that makes Mole so unique. A disaster... Palenque has not many good food choices. If you want to go to this place, make sure it's just for a drink because the food is not worth mentioning. Atendimento exemplar. A maioria dos garçons arranha um inglês razoável. Tem vários pratos vegetarianos, coisa difícil de achar.

And that's where the good things end. The pork chops tasted pretty old and were chewy. The sauce nothing special.And then the Mole. It doesn't even deserve its name. It tasted like regular beef stock with no extra spice added. Nothing close to be good or homemade. I'm sure it came right out of a store and just got warmed up. We've had our share of Mole on our 5 week Mexico trip. And this was the worst..by a mile! The taste didn't remind me of anything that makes Mole so unique.
