She moves other tables and chairs that constantly make noise. They didn't clean their hands before they brought food. And they just put it on the table! I couldn't survive that waitress could be so arrogant. I'd never go there.
We had a number of different foods, I was so tired I just ordered soup. Egg soup with garlic! Delicious! The best part of this meal were fruit juice drinks: cantaloupe, pineapple, lemonade, rice water (horchata).
If you're looking for a budget option for a traditional Mexican menu (soup, main meal and a dessert), located very close to the bus station. Watch out for the lentil soup if you're vegetarian- it contains meat!
I had a palate. It wasn't bad, but really salty. But that wasn't the worst. The worst part of the food was the staff. Ladies who work there were cleaning the floor, tables and chairs around us with dirty mop and cleaning cloths, so I had the feeling that the dirt is in the food. We couldn't focus. It was loud. Even if the food was good, I couldn't eat in this place. I'm sorry.
We stayed in Palenque for two nights on our way through Mexico. There's a bunch of restaurants in town. This one's right a the main drag next to the ADO Bus station, so it's hard to miss. There's all the typical mexican meals on the menu. For a starter we had some Guacamole. For the main we chose the chicken Tacos and the Pulpo with sides. And beer...they unfortunately almost didn't have any ice (and the fridge didn't work well we've been told). Well, better warm beer than none. The food was very average. The Guacamole was alright. The Tacos really really bland (even with the extras sauces). The Pulpo was just ok, but not really on the freshest side and quite a bit chewy. We've had lots of authentic mexican food througout our 5 week trip. Some bad ones, some really great ones...and then a bunch that was just so average. And this place is one of them. It's cheap and alright enough to fill your stomach. But it's nothing more than that. Palenque in general has quite a food problem. We tried out three, four places. And we had the impression that none of them does a really good job at it. But this town is about the ruins and not the food anyway. Wanna know more about my trips?
