We are locals felt like a drive to Palm Beach. Decided to visit this cafe for lunch. Hamburger was $18 and beef burrito also $18 both were disgusting. The Pattie on the hamburger was mainly bread with the mince. The burrito was just average. The view is nice looking across to the beach. We would never return. Only reason we went there was there was no parking further down near the Palm Beach ferry wharf where you can get a nice hamburger for $12 made from real meat. Just because it is Palm Beach no need to charge high prices.
Made the mistake of going there for brunch today. On the menu (see picture) was Cos Salad: Poached Eggs (note plural) with crisp prosciutto and parmesan $17. When it arrived there was only one egg. I complained but got a very off hand reply and no action. The salad consisted of a single poached egg, a couple of thin strips of prosciutto, parmesan and mayo. Very poor value. Additionally the coffee was very poor.
Coffee was nice I loved. However, I ordered a burrito and it didn’t meet my expectations. It didn’t not taste like a burrito at all. In addition to this, the food was overpriced for what we got. There are better restaurants near Avalon if you want to have a better dining experience.
I frequently visit this place for coffee and sometimes cake. I don't understand the negative reviews. Although the prices are high, they are comparable to The Boathouse and other cafes in Palm Beach. The coffee is excellent and the views are spectacular. The staff has always been friendly.
